By Kamy, one of the country's most respected and traditional rug retailers, will host Archathon—the largest Arch&Design workshop in the Americas—on November 10, marking its debut on Alameda Gabriel Monteiro da Silva. On November 11, the mentor selection process, final presentations to the jury, and the announcement of the winner will take place at Archademy. The event fosters professional development, practical experience, and networking between participants and partner brands. The challenge: design an interior space using the workshop sponsors' products in under 24 hours. The winners will receive a trip to Miami for Miami Art Basel, one of the world's most important modern and contemporary art events, in December 2018. Competition: Design of a Humanitarian Respite Center
The shelter serving as a humanitarian respite center in downtown McAllen, Texas, was created to respond to the needs of families in crisis. Through its services and the selfless work of volunteers, the shelter has helped countless people in need regain their dignity, particularly Central American immigrants seeking refuge after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

Starting November 13, the Museu de Arte Indígena (MAI) in Curitiba will host the exhibition Bancos Indígenas do Brasil (Indigenous Seats of Brazil), which features 38 pieces from the BEI collection, a documentary on the production process with artist testimonials, and a series of debates on Indigenous art. The seats were crafted by peoples from various regions of the upper and lower Xingu, the southern Amazon, the Midwest, northern Pará, the Guianas, and the northwestern Amazon. The exhibition is free to the public and will run until February 11.

This ideas competition considers water landscapes, and more specifically rivers, as mediators in the necessary harmonic and dynamic balance that must exist between cities and nature. The fluvial (geomorphological) restoration approach will be used to revitalize a river, thereby understanding its natural system to inform design adapted to that system.

The residents of Praia do Mangue, also known as Praia do Oi, belonging to the Silva family, had lived in the area since the mid-1920s. The Silvas have faced—and continue to face—successive displacement processes, culminating in their eviction from their homes by court order on July 25, 2018.
São Paulo, 2018 – On Friday, November 23, Arq.Futuro, Inciti – Research and Innovation for Cities, Escola da Cidade, and the Ministry of Public Security will host the Urbanism and Public Security Seminar. The event will analyze recent intervention experiences in three cities: Medellín, Colombia; Recife; and Rio de Janeiro. It will take place in São Paulo at the Itaú BBA auditorium, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
This event is held in conjunction with the launch of the Landscape and Sustainability Observatory (OPS) at the UDP Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design.
