Welcome to the first 2019 edition of the exclusive course titled “Acoustics of theaters, auditoriums, and performance halls: design guidelines,” which will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, immediately following REVESTIR'2019.

Do architects know how to write? Can they present their projects textually? How should one write about architectural projects? There are no exact recipes or formulas for writing well; however, literature and journalism offer insights that help in crafting clear texts.

CineCubo is a film club hosted by the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) aimed at fostering dialogue between audiovisual and architectural languages and debating perspectives on the city. The rapid and intensive evolution of biological and digital technologies at the end of the 20th century has brought about significant transformations in our daily and professional habits.

Based on the PhD thesis of Marcelo Faiden and organized by Javier Agustín Rojas, this workshop is aimed at students and architects who wish to delve into design techniques through the analysis and study of notable buildings in Buenos Aires. The workshop will take place over eight consecutive sessions starting in March 2019, held on Fridays from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Monte 153 C (March) and Atelier C (April).

On November 7, Arq.Futuro and Insper will host Frans-Anton Vermast for a lecture on the use of citizen data and algorithms—and the ethical implications of this practice—in social innovation.

The Master’s Program in Territorial Planning and Urban Planning (MOTPU IV), from the Faculty of Architecture, Arts, Design, and Urbanism at the Higher University of San Andrés in La Paz, Bolivia, presents the seminar: "Conceptual and Empirical Contributions to the Optimal Location of Collective Facilities or Services in Urban Spaces."

Islands have always exerted a peculiar fascination on the individual and collective imagination, as evidenced by their diverse representations in art, culture, and literature, as well as their success in the contemporary tourism industry. While in exile and attempting to familiarize herself with the Caribbean islands, María Zambrano wrote: "the role of islands is to act as a magnet that draws the imagination toward something primary, not yet corrupted by human nature." This tendency to project the most idyllic places onto the edges of the sea persists in the collective imagination today. When we think of summer or vacations, our minds often gravitate toward the mental construction of islands—places where we dream and fantasize that happiness, calm, and harmony are possible alongside a sunset.

This year marks the third week of urbanism-related activities hosted by the TransLAB.URB collective. Once again, the event celebrates the transformative power of walking in partnership with the international Jane's Walk community. Taking place from May 3rd to 5th, the event honors the life and work of activist and urbanist Jane Jacobs during the 2nd Jane's Walk Porto Alegre.

Twenty thousand architects from around the world will come to Rio de Janeiro in 2020 for three mega-events, 12 seminars, more than 50 art exhibitions and cultural initiatives, and competitions for students and young professionals. All of this will revolve around the 27th World Congress of Architects (UIA2020RIO), which will even incorporate some of the world's most famous celebrations, such as New Year's Eve on Copacabana Beach and the Rio Carnival.

Javier Sordo Madaleno Bringas was born in Mexico City in 1956 and studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad Iberoamericana (1974–1979). He has made significant contributions to architectural development and style in Mexico, improving the built environment and the quality of life for users. With over forty years of experience as an architect and developer, his professional career has been highly prolific, encompassing approximately 190 designed projects, more than nine million square meters built, and around two and a half million square meters developed. His most representative projects include: Hotel Westin Regina L.C. (1993), Moliére Dos22 (1997), Masterplan Antara (2006–2018), San Josémaría Escrivá Church (2008), Masterplan Andares (2009–2017), Antea Lifestyle Center (2013), Toreo Parque Central (2014), Residencial Artesia (2014), Andamar Lifestyle Center (2014), Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen (2015), ARTZ Pedregal (2018), and 28 projects for the Teletón Foundation (1999–2016).
