Nivaldo Andrade, national president of the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB), will participate in a roundtable discussion as part of the Academic Week of Architecture and Urbanism (SAAU’18), taking place from April 23 to 27 in João Pessoa, Paraíba. The event is organized by the Higher Education Institute of Paraíba (IESP). Andrade is the keynote speaker for the "Memory and Cultural Landscape" panel, held on Tuesday (24) at the Santa Roza Theater, starting at 6:00 PM.

The School of Architecture at the Universidad San Sebastián, Concepción campus, is organizing the exhibition "Modern Architecture: Environmental Control Elements in Educational Architecture in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico." This exhibition is the result of the research project "Identification, Analysis, and Development of Environmental Components of the Modern Movement in Educational Architecture in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico," conducted by the FORM Research Group of the Department of Architectural Projects at ETSAB, UPC Barcelona, and funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

Architecture in Shorts: a short film series on innovation and trends in contemporary architecture.
Launched last year in Spain and presented internationally for the first time in Milan, Italy, during Milan Design Week, the Arquitetura em Curtas initiative is a series of short films on innovation and trends in contemporary architecture. Its goal: to promote video as a medium for narrating architectural processes.
Over the last two decades, the discipline of landscape has been designated as a model and a medium for the contemporary city. During this time, a range of alternative architecture and urbanism practices have emerged throughout Latin America. Many of these practices explore the ecological and territorial implications of urban projects. The emergence of these practices has coincided with social and political transformations in the region.
Escola da Cidade is hosting the workshop "Amphibious Architectures – Cultural Spaces in Marajó/PA." This study trip, beginning July 16, is designed to foster reflection and develop proposals for cultural spaces in riverside regions.
Managing Director of the international architecture and design firm Perkins+Will, architect Fernando Vidal will participate in the 2nd edition of Office Connection with the lecture "Changes and Evolution in Ways of Working."
The opening will feature an open lecture with the architect. Free of charge.
Escola da Cidade – School of Architecture and Urbanism will host the exhibition Informal Rooting – An Open Atlas from September 12 to October 11, curated by Italian architect Alessandro Tessari.
The 2nd Science, Technology, and Society Symposium, to be held at UNILA/Foz do Iguaçu on May 24th and 25th, focuses on the geopolitics of knowledge, dependency, and coloniality in Latin America. In other words, the symposium aims to bring Latin American Thought on Science, Technology, and Society (PLACTS) closer to the decolonial perspective, viewing it as a theoretical expression created by the South and for the South, specifically addressing issues most relevant to Latin America. Decolonial thought understands the world through its interiorities, geographical space, and dissident bodies, serving as a powerful critique of Western modernity and its inherent colonial violence, as well as the coloniality of power and knowledge.
The Minas Gerais Department of the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB-MG) will host the 20th IAB-MG Architecture Awards 2018 – 75 years of IAB-MG. The primary objective of the awards is to promote and recognize the intellectual and professional work of architects within the state of Minas Gerais.

The Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution of the São Paulo State Secretariat of Culture, will open the exhibition 'Experiencing Le Corbusier – Contemporary Interpretations of Modernism' on Saturday, June 16, at 2:00 PM. Curated by Pierre Colnet and Hadrien Lelong of Cremme – Editora de Mobiliário, through the Instituto Cremme—an association committed to social, educational, and artistic spheres through the promotion of cultural activities—the exhibition explores Le Corbusier’s thinking beyond the boundaries of architecture.
