The Montreal Holocaust Museum (MHM) announces the launch of an international architectural competition for the design of its new building on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal. The Museum invites architects to submit their candidatures until January 28, 2022 to a competition that invites them to creatively address the importance of Holocaust remembrance sites and the education of future generations about the dangers of hatred, antisemitism, and racism.

The City of Kerava (Finland) is organizing an international architectural competition to develop the area of the Kerava Station. The competition form is an open idea competition, and it will start in November 2021 and end in February 2022. Young Balkan Designers (YBD) is a regional talent platform founded in 2011 with the aim to identify, promote and develop creative potential of the Balkan region in the field of design. The initiative also aims at unifying the regional design scene, bringing it closer to the international audience, strengthening its potential by providing additional education and practice, while at the same time contributing to the restoration of multi-cultural cooperation in the Balkan region.

Every second year, the VELUX Group invites students of architecture to participate in the International VELUX Award competition on the theme “Light of Tomorrow". Since its launch in 2004, more than 10,000 students from more than 800 schools from all regions of the world have participated in the competition.
The competition invites students to explore the role of daylight in architecture. The aim is to encourage and challenge students of architecture, and to create a deeper understanding of daylight as an ever-relevant source of energy, light and life.
For the celebratory 10th edition in 2022, the students will develop their projects in one of the two categories: ‘Daylight in buildings’ or ‘Daylight investigations’.

The second cycle of the free online seminar “The New Museu do Pontal – Partnerships and Inspirations” will take place on December 16 at 6:00 PM. The session will address the practice of crowdfunding and the importance of a culture of giving in Brazil, featuring examples of campaigns that have driven cultural and social transformation through community engagement and a shared sense of purpose. Participants include Lucas Van de Beuque, Executive Director of the Museu do Pontal; Paula Fabiani, CEO of the Institute for the Development of Social Investment (IDIS); artist Martha Niklaus; and Larissa Novais, Special Projects Consultant at the Benfeitoria platform. The discussion will be moderated by Tatiana Richard, Coordinator of Projects and Institutional Development at the Museu do Pontal.

Applications for the lato sensu postgraduate program at Escola da Cidade are open until March 11, 2022. Established over 10 years ago, the program consists of seven courses and is structured around two central aspects: practice and design methodology, understood as research and a strategy for engaging with space across its multiple scales. The program’s overarching theme is "Civilization America: A Look Through Architecture," which proposes understanding and addressing the historical, geographical, territorial, and social conditions that define us. Through this lens, Escola da Cidade’s postgraduate courses aim to connect professionals working in architecture, urbanism, and related fields with research and critical reflection applied to design and education.

Since 2010, MEDS (Meetings of Design Students) has been held every summer. It is an international architecture and design workshop that takes place in different European countries. This year, the workshop will be held in Zaragoza, Spain.
