In 2013, home fashion label Buster + Punch emerged from a garage in East London, with a refreshing stance on everyday detailing and fittings that elevated them into desirable and trendy pieces.
The brand’s founder Massimo Buster Minale was renowned for his work as an architect by day and maker of custom motorcycles by night – the latter sold from the garage a few hundred yards from his London flat. His motorcycle clients began commissioning one-off interior pieces and detailing for their homes. Minale had always struggled to find premium hardware and fittings for his architecture projects for Richard Rogers and Foster & Partners and now saw a clear gap in the market.

For nearly 30 years, fiber artist Sonya Clark’s work has explored the histories and legacies of racism and oppression in America and the potential of a collective approach to questions of equality for the future. “We Are Each Other” will be the first survey of the artist’s work in Atlanta, New York City and Detroit and will bring together the artist’s largest, community-centered and participatory projects, which will be activated with each city’s respective communities. The exhibition will feature projects including the additive, room-sized installation “The Beaded Prayers Project” (1998-ongoing), inspired by African amulet traditions; “The Hair Craft Project” (2014), which pairs photography and fiber art, documenting the work of Black hairdressers; and the “Monumental Cloth” series (2019), which recreates at massive scale the flag of truce used to help broker the end of the Civil War. In her work, she intertwines craft and community and incorporates handwork in her projects to promote new collective encounters across racial, gender and socioeconomic lines and to address difficult questions of exclusion in American society, as part of her commitment to one of the most pressing issues of our day — equality and the difficult work we all must do to realize it. This exhibition is co-organized by the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, the Museum of Arts and Design and Cranbrook Art Museum
Jazz bars around the world were the subject of illustrations by architect Jose Ricardo Basiches and provided the theme for the booth designed for the Armstrong brand, conceived and built to foster real sensory experiences within the exhibition hall. Well-known for his freehand drawings on napkins and various unconventional surfaces, Basiches says he never leaves home without a pen in his pocket. "For me, drawing is more than a hobby. It is a way of experiencing the environment I am in," the architect adds. These illustrations permeated many elements of the booth during Expo Revestir 2023, particularly the acoustic wall and ceiling panels, presenting the idea that Design + Acoustics can stem from a fresh perspective shared by architects and acoustic consultants regarding existing market products.
