The "Escola Aberta no Galpão" (Open School in the Warehouse) project stems from a desire to share and build critical thinking regarding architecture, urbanism, art, cinema, geography, and other fields that play a fundamental role in transforming urban lifestyles.
Connection is what drives us. Building knowledge is what sustains us.

A lecture on the role of the architect, delivered by the school's director, Ciro Pirondi, followed by a guided tour of the exhibition on the Osaka Pavilion by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, will take place on November 27. Registration is open. Free of charge.

Aiming to discuss the trajectory of Brazilian architecture, based on current discussions and critiques published in specialized media, the IAB will host a series of debates centered on the practice of architectural competitions.
The complexity of addressing this issue has led the IAB to foster a broader reflection on these topics and to invite architects to discuss both the conditions of competitions within the current professional context and their role in a wider urban and social dimension, viewing the city and architecture as social rights for the entire population.

With the goal of encouraging practices for Technical Assistance for Social Interest Housing (ATHIS), the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of Brazil (CAU/BR) mandated in 2017 that all state-level councils (CAU/UFs) allocate 2% of their budgets to support ATHIS initiatives. In alignment with CAU/BR guidelines, the Santa Catarina Council (CAU/SC) established the Special Commission for Technical Assistance (CTEC) in 2017. Composed of a group of architects and urban planners, the commission was tasked with coordinating the development of public and free technical assistance policies, as provided for by Law 11.888/2008.

We are living in an era of global-scale innovation.
Architecture and engineering are also being transformed by these innovations, with a new design concept called BIM at the forefront.
According to Bilal Succar, BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a set of interrelated policies, processes, and technologies designed to manage building construction through a database, from the design phase through the end of the building's lifecycle.

ALA and AOR are the guest speakers for this conference, taking place on April 11, 2018, at the Palácio Sinel de Cordes, the headquarters of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale. Both architecture firms operate within the Finnish context, a country with a very high Human Development Index (HDI), currently ranked 23rd globally. Erkko Aarti, founding partner, will present the work of AOR Architects, while Antti Nousjoki will showcase projects by ALA Architects. The discussion will be moderated by Paula Melâneo, editor-in-chief of J—A Jornal Arquitectos.

This course offers a historical overview of the development of digital communication technologies and their relationship with urban space. We will also explore why a movement known as "smart cities" exists today, as well as the implications and limitations of distributing this "intelligence" throughout cities.

CineCubo is a film club hosted by the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) designed to foster dialogue between audiovisual and architectural languages and to debate perspectives on the city. On the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM, CineCubo screens films followed by a discussion at the IAB-SP headquarters. Curated and moderated by Nana Maiolini, Travessia Filmes, and guests, the sessions are free and open to the general public.

Drawing on the theme "In Project" from the 11th Architecture Biennial, the firm SIAA Arquitetos Associados reflects on the possibility of alternative relationships between architectural design, built space, and public occupation over time, whether anticipated or not. To this end, the firm uses the Centro Cultural São Paulo building—designed by architects Eurico Prado Lopes and Luiz Telles—as the foundation for its reflection, and not by chance. Following a period of immersion in the diverse uses that this space anticipates and enables, this exhibition presents a graphic record developed by the architects at SIAA. The work seeks not only to highlight what is already present in the daily life of the CCSP but also to make explicit the potential of its spaces and uses—whether programmed or appropriated—positioning the building as a powerhouse of cultural management and an architectural and urban object.
