This Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 4:00 PM, a free public talk will be held with artist Marcela Cantuária and curator Andressa Rocha at the exhibition "Transmutation: Alchemy and Resistance" at the Paço Imperial. The event will also feature the launch of the exhibition's physical and digital catalogs. The exhibition will remain on view only until this coming Sunday, July 7, 2024. The 72-page catalog, which includes texts by Aldones Nino, Andressa Rocha, and Clara Anastácia, as well as photography by Vicente de Mello, will be available in print and as an e-book, with free viewing on the Área 27 production company website.

The Living Places - Simon Architecture Prize is an initiative of the firm Simon curated by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe since the prize’s inception in 2016, in commemoration of Simon's centenary. Since then, architecture studios from more than 23 countries have participated in the competition, reaffirming its international importance. In the previous edition, the prize saw 220 nominated projects.

The new edition of the BIAU will be held in early December 2024 in Lima, an exceptional setting for discussions regarding extreme climatic conditions and their impact on the built environment. Taking a step toward improving the quality of public space, the city of Barcelona, which will serve as the World Capital of Architecture in 2026, has launched a new International Ideas Competition for Young Architects. The initiative aims to transform 10 permanent blind walls—one in each district—into new facades. Organized by the Barcelona City Council and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, in partnership with UNESCO and the International Union of Architects (UIA), the competition seeks architectural proposals that provide meaning to walls that are currently anonymous and unremarkable, exposed in public spaces in a state of permanent temporariness.

The workshop will be held in Abruzzo, near the town of Morro D'Oro (TE), in the heart of the Vomano Valley. The participatory design and self-construction activity will have as its ultimate goal the creation of two different wooden artifacts. The first one will reconnect the paths among the Abruzzo olive groves to a spring historically used by villagers and for years, though functioning, fallen into disuse. The second structure will be a mobile installation, towed by tractor, serving the public activities hosted in the olive grove. Participants will work and be hosted by the charming oil mill Frantoio Montecchia (Frantoio Montecchia), that overlooks the land, a center not only of production but also a place open to the public for recreational and cultural activities.
