The performance “Cult against the Frauds” (Culto contra os embustes), by artist Panmela Castro, will take place this Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 4:00 PM, at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR). It is part of the exhibition “Radical Ideas about Love,” which remains on view until November 24, 2024.
With free admission, the performance will feature audience participation in a ritual where self-esteem and vital energy are used to ward off malevolent individuals from each participant's life. Through the “Prayer against the Frauds,” created by Panmela Castro, the names of the frauds written by the audience will be burned. “This ritual seeks to invoke each person's own strength to break with all forms of violence and abuse,” the artist states.
Following the live performance, the video recording will be displayed as part of the exhibition.
