Ensemble® Acoustical Drywall Ceiling | USG

USG is a North American manufacturer of building systems, with a portfolio spanning gypsum panels, ceilings, subfloors, and building envelope solutions. Among its ceiling systems, the Ensemble® Acoustical Drywall Ceiling is presented as an integrated system that brings together the company’s technologies in drywall, finishing, and acoustics within a single assembly.

The system addresses a recurring tension in interior design: the preference for smooth, continuous ceiling planes and the need for effective sound absorption, two conditions that conventional drywall alone cannot reconcile. Ensemble® combines perforated USG Sheetrock® Brand panels with an acoustically transparent spray-applied finish, achieving a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of up to 0.90 and a Ceiling Attenuation Class (CAC) of 40+, while maintaining a monolithic appearance in standard white or custom colors. Its high light reflectance finish (LR-87) also contributes to reducing lighting fixtures and energy consumption.

From a construction standpoint, the system installs and finishes using traditional drywall techniques, based on 5/8" USG Sheetrock® Brand Ensemble™ Four-Sided Taper™ gypsum panels (4' x 8' or 4' x 10'), combined with high-NRC backer panels and the USG Ensemble™ Spray-Applied or Airless Finish. Twelve system configurations are available for ceilings and walls, covering suspended, curved, and direct-mount installations, including versions compatible with return air plenums. The system is Greenguard Gold certified, carries a Class A fire classification, and is backed by a certified installer network and a full system warranty, with an installed cost up to 50% lower than acoustical plaster systems.
