Impact Acoustic is a Swiss manufacturer of acoustic solutions and materials engineered for performance and circular design. They present Nova, a modular acoustic ceiling tile system that combines the familiarity of standard suspended ceilings with a refined architectural appearance. Designed for compatibility with conventional T-grid infrastructure, Nova integrates interchangeable acoustic tile patterns, concealed installation, and recycled PET construction to create ceilings that enhance both acoustic comfort and spatial expression.
Design System
Nova is a modular ceiling system based on 600 × 600 mm (24 × 24 in.) ARCHISONIC® Felt tiles installed within standard metric or imperial T-grid systems. Using Impact Acoustic's patent-pending Flex-Fit installation solution, the tiles press seamlessly into the grid while minimizing the visual presence of the supporting structure, resulting in a clean and continuous ceiling surface. The system is available with or without the T-grid components and is designed for straightforward installation and future access or replacement.
Tile Designs
Rather than a single ceiling panel, Nova offers a family of interchangeable tile designs that create different visual effects while maintaining a common installation platform. Available patterns include Plain, Truchet Type A and B, Plaid, Vertigo Type A and B, Vertigo Fine Type A and B, and Muji Type A and B by Rafa Ortega. The Muji variants can also be combined with optional acoustic fins, allowing designers to introduce additional depth and ceiling articulation where required. An online configurator enables architects to experiment with layouts, tile combinations, and color palettes during the design process.
Material and Acoustic Performance
Nova is fabricated from 12 mm ARCHISONIC® Felt, a material composed of 100% PET with a minimum 60% certified post-consumer recycled content. The system is available in 45 colors curated by Colour Hive and carries certifications including Cradle to Cradle Certified™, UL Environmental Product Declaration, SCS Recycled Content, and low-VOC compliance for LEED projects. Acoustic testing achieved an NRC of 0.80 and an αw rating of 0.75 when installed with a 300 mm air cavity, providing effective sound absorption across a broad frequency range.
Design Flexibility
The interchangeable tile patterns, extensive color palette, and compatibility with standard suspended ceiling infrastructure provide flexibility for both new construction and renovation projects while supporting circular design through Impact Acoustic's take-back program.
