Elval Colour manufactures coating solutions for sustainable building envelopes and materials. Facing the Nemunas River in Kaunas, Lithuania, the ALIA Combo project revitalized a 1970s riverside building using customized etalbond® FR aluminium composite panels supplied by Elval Colour.
Designed by UAB Architects, the renovation tripled the structure’s original size while preserving its modernist identity and adapting it to contemporary environmental standards. Elval Colour talbond® FR aluminium composite panels were installed as vertical sunshades to create a continuous, undulating façade that responds to solar exposure throughout the day. Positioned in front of a suspended glazing system, the etalbond® FR elements filter sunlight without obstructing views, ensuring thermal comfort and visual coherence.
To withstand the humidity of the riverfront location, the panels were coated with a four-layer PVDF system in Apple Silver. This liquid coating ensures long-term colour consistency, durability, and reduced fire propagation.
