Elval Colour manufactures coating solutions for sustainable building envelopes and materials. The Orbit, a nine-storey office building in central Athens, was renovated using etalbond® A2 and etalbond® FR aluminium composite panels with arypon® protective coating. The material was applied as part of a custom façade system integrating shading, planters, and drainage within a unified architectural surface.
Designed by Lianou Chalvatzis Architects, the project transforms an existing structure into a contemporary mixed-use workplace with offices, retail, and wellness spaces. The façade geometry folds back at key points to create vertical gardens and planters, allowing 90% of the plot area to be covered with vegetation. These planted areas improve thermal comfort and establish a direct connection between the building and its surroundings. Elval Colour engineers collaborated throughout the fabrication and installation of the multifunctional façade to ensure long-term structural and aesthetic performance.

Elval Colour supplied 14,500 m² of etalbond® A2 and FR panels in a Low Glow White finish treated with arypon®, ensuring high reflectivity, easy maintenance, and long-term durability. The façade combines two suspension systems—inclined and horizontal—concealing fixings and improving ventilation to extend the lifespan of the cladding.
