NEOKEM is a Greek company specializing in the development and production of high-quality powder coatings for aluminum architectural systems and industrial applications, with distribution in more than 25 countries.
The renovation of a landmark brutalist building in Lykovrysi, Attica, was carried out by Georges Batzios Architects. For this project, NEOKEM’s 520 Sahara Night powder coating from the Prisma Collection was applied to the aluminum systems.

The renovated building showcases how the fine-textured matt metallic finish enhances the clarity of the restored concrete surfaces while ensuring long-term durability across both façade and interior frames.
Originally designed by Alexandros Tombazis in 1972, the building is a rare example of brutalist architecture in Greece. The intervention respected the original structural grid and waffle slab ceilings, while introducing new spatial configurations and water features that enrich the user experience. The renovation balances preservation of the concrete’s character with the demands of a contemporary workplace.

The Sahara Night finish was chosen for its resistance to UV radiation, abrasion, and weathering. Its deep, metallic tone enhances the minimalist palette of exposed concrete, glass, and stone, while providing durability for both interior and exterior applications. The powder-coated aluminum frames play a crucial role in preserving the building’s brutalist identity while integrating modern performance standards.
