Pilkington UK, part of the NSG Group, manufactures float, coated, laminated and processed glass for architectural and technical applications. Pilkington presents the Pilkington Suncool™ range, a family of coated glasses that limit solar heat gain while admitting daylight. Because the coating also has low emissivity, a single product controls overheating in summer and reduces heat loss in winter once assembled in an insulating glass unit.
Products in the range are identified by two figures, light transmittance and total solar energy transmittance (g-value). Pilkington Suncool™ 70/35, for example, transmits 70% of visible light and 35% of solar energy, which lets designers select a balance between daylight and solar protection for each orientation and use.

Applications
The range is used in office façades and curtain walls, hotels, cultural and healthcare buildings, and in residential projects with large glazed areas. Laminated and acoustic versions suit overhead glazing, balustrades and noise-exposed façades, while the low-iron version is specified where the colour of the glass must stay neutral.
