More about this product

Lapitec is an Italian company committed to integrating luxury and sustainability into its products since 1989. Bianco Assoluto sintered stone from Lapitec was used in New York City's Pennsylvania Station regeneration project, in the station's new entrance on 33rd Street and 7th Avenue, the East End Gateway.

Bianco Assoluto Sintered Stone Bianco Assoluto Sintered Stone

The new East End Gateway is characterized by a generous presence of natural light filtered through the glass and steel canopy that functions as a skylight. Being one of the busiest train stations in the country, it was designed to withstand the wear and tear of high traffic, calculated at around 650,000 users per year. For the designing firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, this represented the challenge of crafting a practical piece of public infrastructure with durable and innovative materials to resist the conditions the surfaces would endure.

The result is a high-performance public area, with soft profiles and geometric lines. Lapitec's sintered stone in Bianco Assoluto Lux finish covers all the vertical surfaces of the ventilated facades, reflecting the natural light from the skylight bringing greater brightness and luminosity. The 30 mm thick slabs of Bianco Assoluto are an ideal finish for high-traffic public areas due to their non-porous surface. They are also unaffected by chemicals, acids, bases, paints, and temperature changes. Bianco Assoluto is available in 6 surface finishes: Lux, Satin, Velluto, Lithos, Vesuvio, and Arena‎. All finishes result from mechanical processing, without printing or synthetic materials.
