More about this product

ALPHATON® tiles are a type of rear-ventilated brick for ceramic facades, developed by the German company MOEDING. These tiles can be laid in vertical and horizontal formats on the facade surfaces, giving way to multiple design options. LONGOTON® tiles are another brick tile from MOEDING, with similar characteristics to the ALPHATON® tiles but with the potential to adapt to facades with irregular shapes and capable of extending to 3,000 mm in length.

The new Kollerhof is a mixed-use complex in Gersthofen, with a layout that enables the interaction of multiple uses and users in its shared, spread public spaces. The site combines assisted living, shops, and rental flats with diverse typologies of open spaces.

The facades of the complex are clad in ceramic curtains, with the rear-ventilatedALPHATON® and LONGOTON® materials. MOEDING assisted in the design of the facades by tailoring the tiles to the planner’s design. The shape of the tiles was defined by the distinction between public and living areas: a tile with wide waves and glossy white glaze was created for public areas, and a tile with sandy, subtle light brown was used for the living areas.

These tiles, like other MOEDING products, are resistant to most environmental stressors and require minimal maintenance, so they are apt solutions for claddings in extreme weather or in budget-tight projects.

A farm used to sit on the site, where now a complex with 4,250 m2 of floor surface has public uses on the ground floor, followed by residential areas distributed along shared courtyards equipped with trees and urban furniture. At the top floors, urban gardens for the tenants cover the roof and improve the resilience of the site towards sunlight and heat. This thermal insulation is also assisted by the ceramic facade, customized to control heat transfers.

Special, white glazed tile. 191014 | 327X40 MM

The ALPHATON®, brick introduced to the market by MOEDING in 2001, is a rectangular tile meant for uniform facade coverage.

The facade system offers:

  • long-lasting materials
  • natural resources
  • efficient production
  • economical development through fast and efficient installation
  • high individuality due to large design option potential
  • energy efficient
  • low maintenance

The extruded ALPHATON® brick slabs are made from predominantly native clays and are fully colored. Due to the very high firing temperatures and the long firing time, intensive colors and the best strength values are achieved. The brick slabs are double-shelled and 30 mm thick. The breaking loads of ALPHATON® panels are many times higher than those of single-skin panels. The tiles are resistant to weather stressors and their structure can be adapted for diverse climates, to facilitate ventilation or insulation as needed.
