Private Custom Sauna Rooms for Amrai Suites | Alpha Wellness Sensations

This hospitality project in the Montafon Valley, south of the Swiss Alps, mixes its suites with its spa amenities, by installing wellness furniture by Alpha Wellness Sensations in the rooms. The Amrai Suites incorporate eight models of private saunas and infrared chairs into 23 suites, complementing the rest of the wellness services available in their two public spas.

The hotel by Alpstein Architektur combines the traditional architecture of Montafon: slatted wooden structures and stone, with wide, minimalist, modern spaces. The interior design of the fabrics and ornaments in lighting fixtures and furniture, inspired by the traditional Montafon costumes, works as a contrast.

Each suite is bathed by natural light from its large glass window wall with views of the mountains. The spas of the hotel offer treatments and include wellness amenities such as high-temperature pools and showers.

The Finnish saunas by Alpha Wellness Sensations in the suites are custom versions of five different Chaleur saunas, depending on the suite they were built in. 23 saunas were customized for the interior of the suites, and two saunas were installed outdoors.

The indoor saunas are finished on their exterior with textured paint that matches the ornaments in the room. Inside, Finnish spruce wood shelves with an intermediate band cover the walls. All saunas have black hinges on the safety glass doors and black wooden protection for the sauna ovens. The benches and backrest are made of lightweight wood and have indirect lighting and speaker systems. The sauna variety has been numbered for this project.

Type 1, Type 2, and Type 5 have an outside finish of drywall and textured paint, with benches and backrests of ayous wood and a 9 kW sauna oven with black ayous wood protection.

The Type Five sauna has the oven hidden behind a partition wall, while Type Two has an additional window finished in Finnish spruce.

The Type 3 Chaleur sauna has a sauna oven of 11 kW with black ayous wood oven protection, while Type 4 has a sauna oven of 7.5 kW with black ayous wood oven protection.

The outdoor Chaleur sauna has an inside finish of Finnish spruce veneer boards, benches, and backrests of ayous woods.

Alpha Wellness Sensations also provided five Chaleur ergonomic infrared benches and one independent bench, all of them made in cedar wood, leather headrests, and a mobile footrest. These cabins are optional for four of the suites. The sides of the freestanding Lounge bench are covered in cedar veneer boards. The double Chaleur Lounge bench, covered in cedar veneer boards, has Quartz heaters built into the ceiling with dimmable control.
