Steel Door Handles for La Tour Alto Offices | Karcher Design

Karcher Design is a German door furniture manufacturer that offers a selection of designs and technologies that can be mixed and adapted for the best integration into any architectural project.

Completed in 2020, La Tour Alto incorporates the seamless design of the Rhodos ER28 handle by Karcher Design into all its interior doors, matching their finish of satin stainless steel to the frames of its characteristic window cladding. This building is a 38-story office tower, with a limited service program around its core, and thus, all facade-facing space is meant for offices to profit from the floor-to-ceiling views.

The tower, placed strategically in the Défense quartier to connect to the Boulevard Circulaire and the Place des Saisons for better pedestrian access, merges itself into the district’s skyline with a particular outline of ever-widening floors, which begins with a surface of 600 square meters at the ground level and finishes at 1900 sqm at level 38, 160 meters above ground level. This upward expansion became possible thanks to a cantilever structure that, placing its bare, minimal core at the center of each floor, manages to expand its surface little by little at a range of 75 cm per level.

The flared crystal facade, composed of glass scales that also function as an insulating, double, breathable skin, is the work of the firm Permasteelisce and has a surface of 1700 sqm. The interior design, laid out throughout the spaces with partitions clad with the Rhodos ER28 across all floors, is the work of Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel.

While most of the interior is destined for office space, it considers diverse forms of leisure for its inhabitants, such as restaurants, break-out spaces, sports and well-being areas, and at the ground level, a store.

This project uses the handle Rhodos ER28 in its stainless steel satin finish in interior doors, each fit with the 3-piece rosette system, also by Karcher Design.
