Customized furniture from Tylko was used in the Gachard 88 building office space. Situated in Belgium, Garchard 88 is a multi-story office building designed with an open plan that promotes collaboration. The finished result blends tranquility and simplicity. The furniture pieces included made by Tylko are sideboards.
Concept
The concept behind the interiors was to create a welcoming shared office space that would assist in collaborations. Designed by ncbham, research was conducted to create the best-suited design. This included multiple workshops and surveys which allowed ncbham to identify both personal and collective user requirements.
Strategy
The space occupies one and a half floors of the seven-story building. Faced with a tight budget and time constraints, an efficient approach was required for the refurbishment and materiality strategy. This included working with the existing structure and choosing to hide and expose it in different spaces.
Spacial Layout
The original closed layout was reconfigured aiming to make the most of the existing space while creating a new experience and use. ncbham preserved as many walls and cabinets as possible. Where partitions were removed, their traces were left on the floor to prevent needing to lift any flooring and were highlighted as a feature.
The finished space includes meeting rooms, focus booths, support, and informal gathering spaces. Organic forms were used in the entrances, windows, and private booths strengthening the natural narrative. A comfortable library room overlooks the space, and other furniture includes sideboards from Tylko.
Aesthetic Design
A minimal and natural pallet based on pure materials and neutral tonalities was used with touches of color intentionally used to mark specific areas. Existing furniture was paired with new and upcycled pieces from selected brands including Tylko.
The furniture installation from Tylko offered a smooth process, with the client impressed by the efficiency of the team on-site, where the Tylko team put in extra effort to cater to the tight schedule of the project.
