Industrial Doors at Alliander Westpoort | Rolflex

Rolflex specializes in manufacturing made-to-measure compact folding doors. Industrial doors with wicket doors from Rolflex were used in the new regional location of Alliander Westport, a network company located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The location includes offices, training areas, workshops, warehouses, and test rooms. Special attention was given to flexibility, sustainability, and cost during the building's planning. Recycled materials and wooden structures were used, making it energy-neutral with solar collectors and heat and cold storage.

At Alliander Westpoort, they chose Industrial doors with wicket doors from Rolflex to help achieve the energy-neutral goals of the company. The sandwich panels have a good insulation value, which means that the weather conditions have hardly any influence on the climate in the building.

The standout feature of the Compact Folding Door is that it folds up so small, creating more space for diverse installations. In this case, the space was used to accommodate the crane runway. Unlike a typical door that obstructs with rails, the Compact Folding Door allowed for a lower installation of the crane runway. This enabled the positioning of cables, lighting, and air-conditioning units directly behind the door opening.

In addition, four out of the seven doors were fitted with integrated wicket doors. This design choice minimizes energy loss, as it's unnecessary to open the entire industrial door to allow people through.
