Enovio eRAIL solar balustrades are a type of railing system with integrated photovoltaic panels that generate electricity from sunlight. When connected to micro-inverters, the electrical energy produced by the PV panels can be harnessed to power various devices and appliances. This feature is particularly beneficial for buildings with continuous energy needs, such as office buildings, hospitals, and factories. Additionally, these balustrades come with integrated LED lighting to enhance the overall appearance of the structure, improve safety, and reduce energy consumption.

Integrated Photovoltaic Panels

eRAIL solar balustrades are made from aluminum, a lightweight and durable material that is resistant to corrosion. The PV cells in aluminum photovoltaic balustrades are embedded within the structure of the railing and are connected to a battery or grid-tied inverter system. The electricity generated by the PV cells can be used to power lights or other devices, or it can be fed back into the electrical grid.

Balustrade Designs

Enovio's photovoltaic balustrades are available in three types: Horizontal, Discrete, and Vertical. All models have a standard width of 1000 mm and a cross-section of 100x50 mm. The built-in photovoltaic panels feature highly permeable glass, a MonoPerc cell type, and an integrated LED light in the upper lamella. The main difference between the models lies in the design of the railing:

Horizontal Discrete Vertical

  • The absence of gaps between the slats makes it difficult to see through the fence, ideal for those seeking privacy

  • This type of fence design is typically simple and clean, with a focus on minimalism and functionality

Integrated LED Lighting

LED lights incorporated into railings can offer ambient lighting and enhance the overall appearance of a structure. For example, lighting can be integrated into the handrail or at the base of the balustrade to create a gentle glow that contributes to the ambiance of the area.
