As YouTube’s enterprise has matured over time, so have the aesthetic principles that can be found in their physical spaces. Natural materials, intuitive design, and multi-purpose functionality played a central role in the development of their new lobby in San Francisco, with an underlying goal of integrating digital media and architectural finishes. To emphasize this, Andreu World's interior furniture collections were used throughout the project.
Design Concept
The long two-story lobby space was stripped down to its underlying structure, and a large floor-to-ceiling LED wall was inserted between the exposed grid of steel. The display walks the line between abstract installation and conventional LED screen, artfully showcasing low-resolution video content with an ephemeral softness. Textured fabric wraps the screen allowing the LEDs to disappear when turned off, and giving the pixels a soft glow when turned on. Overall, the new office streamlines circulation and creates spaces for people to both experience the installation and find solace for work.
Interior Furniture
YouTube's office is furnished with Andreu World's interior collections, which complement the building's overall fusion of natural materials and modernity. In one area, the wall contrasts the screen with natural wood paneling, a lush green wall, and communal Smile armchairs finished in a light wood provide a warm counterbalance to the large digital installation. The Smile indoor chair collection has brought a rustic simplicity to YouTube's space. The versatile and comfortable armchairs do not detract from the vibrancy of the space but actually enhance it. Thus, these office furniture pieces have been essential in accentuating the architect's vision.
Andreu Wolrd collections offer a versatile range of size, finish, and configuration options. The tables are highly functional allowing electrical connectivity for multimedia, while the chairs have a wide variety of bases and can be specified with accessories such as writing tablets, ganging, and numbering systems.
