More about this product

Z Hotels has a growing portfolio of UK lodgings and routinely uses Lutron for lighting control. The hotels set in prime location provide affordable, compact luxury. Automation and controls are an important part of their design philosophy dedicated to stylishness and simplicity; Z Hotels now has Lutron in 7 of its properties.

The Challenge

Z Hotels first turned to Lutron when it was constructing the Z City in London. They were looking for an alternative to the usual keycard system for lighting control that could be used across all Z Hotel City’s 100+ rooms. The aim was to make the guest experience a bit easier and to find a dependable wireless solution since the wiring and cabling work was at a standstill.

The hotel chose Lutron’s myRoom prime control system with Pico wireless controls. myRoom prime uses a door sensor, occupancy sensors and control buttons to determine if a guest is in the room. When the room is empty, the lights turn off and the temperature is set to a background level.

Using the Pico wireless controls, Lutron was able to install the system in a mockup room within two weeks, highlighting the quality of dimming, user-friendliness of the controls, and smart and dependable guest presence detection, all at a competitive price. The hotel was able to make its Christmas opening.

The Solution

Five years on, Z Hotels have expanded their use of Lutron technology with each new location. The company now includes Palladiom keypads and automated blinds with its myRoom prime solution.

Customers tend to be short-stay, so a simple, seamless solution was sought that didn't require deep technical expertise. They needed something that could integrate motorized blinds, room occupancy data, and other features.

The backlit Palladiom keypads feature easy-to-understand icons. The motorized blinds are equipped with blackout fabrics. The solution also includes integration with the Mitsubishi HVAC equipment, with temperature settings controlled in individual rooms by handsome Palladiom thermostats.

The intuitiveness of the system aids in hotel operation, blind control, light dimming and thermostats can all be controlled with myRoom and the occupancy sensors save energy saving money.
