Project Ö is based on an island in the archipelago of Finland. It was bought by a husband and wife team designing and building from scratch a unique spot for themselves to escape. The search for the location itself took five years and now the project's aim is to create a one-of-a-kind home in the middle of the ruggedly beautiful archipelago during the next few years. The wood-based design features treated Thermowood from Finland by Lunawood.

The Couple’s aim was to find visually and functionally suitable wood material for the exterior claddings, terraces, and interiors to achieve the perfect outcome. The absolute requirement was that the exterior materials withstand the harsh weather and respect the modern and minimalistic design. Lunawood is one of the main suppliers and Lunawoods' Thermowood is the perfect choice since the sustainable wood material is made from Scandinavian PEFC-certified pine and spruce from Finland -where the project is based-. It is produced using natural methods; heat and steam. The end result is dimensionally stable, resistant to decay, and non-toxic. It can be used inside or outdoors, in any climate.
Lunawood products are suited to decking due to their stability and durability. Improved insulation properties mean it balances the changes of heat and cold and makes it pleasant to walk on even when barefoot. Lunawood decking is resin- and toxic-free, lightweight, and easy to install.
Thermowood allows Scandinavian softwood to be successfully used in hot and humid weather conditions. The exterior claddings are resin-free and resistant to decay.
- Interior Cladding
Lunawood interior products have a rich tone and smooth and warm surfaces. The boards are light, and easy to cut, shape and install. In addition to its attractive appearance, the thermal modification of wood eliminates the risk of harmful emissions such as formaldehyde. This makes the wood pure, safe and hygienic for indoor use even for those prone to wood-related reactions.
