More about this product

Sky-Frame Fly is a frameless pleated insect screen for the Sky-Frame sliding system. When not in use, the screen retracts completely into the frame, so the insect protection stays out of sight and does not interrupt the frameless glass front when the window is closed or fully open.

Construction
The screen is built as a pleated textile that runs on tear-resistant Vectran fibre tension cords. An integrated system section provides stability and weather resistance and houses the screen when retracted. The pleated screen folds into a compact stack inside the section, and the tensioned cords keep it flat and dimensionally stable across wide openings and tall formats. The screen is drawn across the opening by hand and, when not in use, is fully concealed in the frame, so no separate frame or visible track remains in the opening. Within the modular Sky-Frame system, Fly is one of the features added to a base configuration of system, glazing technology and track option.

Glazing technologies
Fly is mounted on the base sliding system and does not change its glazing. It works with the Sky-Frame technology of the base configuration, and the thermal and acoustic values of the glazing are unaffected by the screen.

Technical data

Characteristic Value
Element width up to 1 m (40"), max. 1,000 mm
Opening height more than 3 m
Materials Vectran fibre textile, aluminium section

System compatibility
Fly is standard with the Classic system and is also available with the hurricane-rated version. No separate certification is documented for the screen; its performance follows the base system, and it can be combined with other Sky-Frame features on the same opening. The screen is operated independently of the sliding panels, so it can be drawn across a ventilating opening while a panel is open.

Applications
Typical applications are residential architecture as well as hospitality and commercial buildings, where facade openings to terraces, gardens and balconies are kept insect-free without a permanently visible screen.

Colours and manufacture
Seven anodised finishes are supplied as standard: the colourless E6/EV1 and six chemically mattened Colinal tones. Further anodised colours are available on request, as is powder coating in the RAL, IGP and DB colour systems, applied in-house to the Qualicoat standard. All components are developed and manufactured in Switzerland; more than 15,000 projects have been realised since 2002.
