With more than 50 years of experience, Rodeca is a leading manufacturer of transparent components, offering innovative solutions designed to optimize the use of daylight in buildings.
Model PC 2560-12, from Rodeca's translucent building elements, was used in the Modular Packaging Hall, an industrial packaging facility in Aßlar-Berghausen, near Wetzlar, Germany.
Designed by JOSEP, the hall was conceived as a fully modular structure that can be dismantled into its individual components and reassembled almost entirely at a different location. The building was completed in 2022 in collaboration with timber construction specialist Reinhold Kabs GmbH, whose modular timber system forms the structural basis for the project. Rather than presenting a sealed, opaque industrial enclosure, the design combines this timber construction with a translucent façade, creating a bright working environment that raises the architectural quality typically associated with industrial buildings.

The polycarbonate panels were applied across large sections of the building envelope, filling the interior with soft, evenly diffused daylight while minimizing glare. This transparent envelope lends the hall an unexpected sense of lightness and subtly reveals its modular construction, with the façade changing appearance throughout the day in response to shifting light conditions.
At the same time, the panels provide reliable weather protection and meet the technical demands of an industrial production facility, allowing transparency to function as an integral part of a resource-efficient, user-oriented design rather than a purely aesthetic gesture.
