Abstract:
The project emerges from a sensitive reading of the coastal territory of Ponta Negra, in Maricá, understood as a space of coexistence between natural systems, cultural memory, and human presence. Despite its environmental and historical significance, the area remains underutilized, revealing a disconnect between landscape, accessibility, and collective experience.
Titled City Overlook: Poetics of Passages, the project understands architecture not as an isolated object, but as an infrastructure of relations. Coexistence is approached through movement, pause, and encounter, acknowledging the presence of human and non-human agents, as well as past and future narratives inscribed in the place. Architecture acts as a mediator, promoting care, belonging, and continuity, without imposing itself upon the territory. The intervention materializes as a linear urban landscape infrastructure of public character, composed of fifteen plateaus distributed along a 4.1-kilometer route. Organized around four territorial landmarks (Farol de Ponta Negra, Ilha da Pedra, Mirante de Jaconé, and Gruta da Sacristia), these points establish a rhythm attentive to the human scale, inviting contemplation, rest, and shared permanence. Connected by paths, walkways, and staircases, the plateaus dissolve the boundaries between the built and the natural. By prioritizing universal accessibility, sensory experience, resource efficiency, and minimal transformation of the site, the project proposes a thought
