This book on engineer Rubens Meister (1922–2009) aims to contribute to the preservation of Brazil's cultural heritage, specifically through the study of modern architecture in Curitiba. The research behind the book began in 2016, following a call for proposals from the Curitiba Cultural Foundation, supported by Caixa Econômica Federal.
With various itinerary options, the city center allows for an exploration of modern buildings within the Historic Triangle, showcasing the experience of a pedestrian-oriented city. It is also possible to explore the area around Avenida São Luís and rediscover the Copan, the Esther, the Terraço Itália, and the Metrópole, Califórnia, and Rock galleries, all while being captivated by the new SESC 24 de Maio.
André Scarpa
An architect and photographer who graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto in Portugal, Scarpa has worked with architects Álvaro Siza and António Madureira. Having returned to São Paulo in 2011, Scarpa worked as an associate at Nitsche Arquitetos until 2018 and has been creating personalized architecture-focused city tours since 2013.

How do you feel about your city?
The Núcleo da Madeira, with the support of the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), will host the event "Innovative Ideas for the Timber Construction Chain" from June 10 to 12. The program features several lecture and debate series divided into five modules. The objective is to provide resources to accelerate the approval and acceptance processes for timber as a technologically advanced material.
The Brazilian building standard NBR 15575 establishes sound insulation levels for the built environment, and both engineers and architects must possess a foundational understanding of acoustics and environmental comfort to properly plan their projects. While undergraduate Engineering and Architecture programs in Brazil include courses on environmental comfort, the vast majority provide little focus on acoustic concepts.
