Registration is now open for the 26th Awards of the Institute of Architects of Brazil – São Paulo Department

The Félix Candela Award is an international architectural ideas competition conducted in Spanish, held in two phases. It is organized annually by the Spanish Institute of Architecture (IESARQ) and is open to students of architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, and design, as well as young architects, landscape architects, urbanists, and designers, participating either individually or in teams of two or three.

In its aim to launch new formats that respond to urban transformations, Concéntrico presents three open calls—"Objetos en la ciudad" (Objects in the City), "Tercer paisaje" (Third Landscape), and "Picnic en el viñedo" (Picnic in the Vineyard)—to participate in the festival in Logroño. The new edition will be held from June 19 to 24, 2025.

In October 2024, the winning projects of the fourth edition of the Rogelio Salmona Latin American Architecture Award were announced—a distinction that highlights projects that have clearly generated significant, open, and collective civic spaces in the region.

Eat, Ask, Repeat: An Investigation into Food and the City. The city and food are more closely related than you might think. Our bodies act as the mediators in this relationship. This book of questions materializes research conducted within the Master in Architectural Communication (MAca9) program at ETSAM. This publication offers a critical look at the dynamics of production, consumption, and the right to the city. What drives us to overeat? Or to eat too little? Is food an elemental resource for survival, or has it become a different kind of entity today? We invite you to reflect on aspects that go unnoticed in our daily lives within this great kitchen we call the city.

In Espacio, cuerpo y mente, Ana Mombiedro explores the intersection of architecture, neuroscience, and psychology to reveal how built spaces influence physiological, cognitive, and socio-emotional health. The book offers a profound and captivating perspective on the value of neuroarchitecture, demonstrating that the design of a place can enhance one's sense of well-being.

PLOT Special Issue 21, "Soils, Ecologies, Territories, Communities," proposes four themes that transcend the field of architecture, approaching conceptions of landscape and the inexhaustible debate between culture and nature from various perspectives. It brings together a selection of projects located in Latin America and research addressing the ecological and climate crises, as well as economic and social inequalities. These initiatives, notable for their connection to the soil, communities, and their territories, highlight the importance of construction processes and their relationship with available materials. They challenge traditional models and demand greater action and reflection from a collective dimension.

With six editions and 22 guests across Chile, Ecuador, and Costa Rica, #XFORMAS (X Ways of Making Architecture) will present two featured sessions at the XXI Chile Architecture and Urbanism Biennial 2019 this October.

Contemporary architectural production is often debated through the lens of various qualities: being modern, techno, sustainable, local, austere, functional, or authentic, among others. These are various ways of being, many of which converge within a single project.

On the rocky hillside of the Côte d'Azur in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Anglo-Irish designer Eileen Gray (1878–1976) built a long, white vacation home she named E.1027 (1926–1929). At 52, this was her first foray into the world of architecture, realized with the support of her then-partner Jean Badovici, editor of the avant-garde magazine L’Architecture Vivante. For Gray, E.1027 was more than an opportunity to apply new spatial concepts; it served as a manifesto, revisited in her subsequent projects, for which she designed not only the architecture but also virtually every object and piece of furniture—creating a total work of art represented in this 1:1 scale exhibition.
