Archipendium 2017

ARCHIPENDIUM 2017 – the architecture calendar by architects for architects and all architecture enthusiasts. In this seventh year since its first publication, the 365 calendar pages of ARCHIPENDIUM 2017 are once again a unique compilation of contemporary building culture in a compact format.

Works of young and innovative studios are depicted next to buildings of well-known and experienced architects. The compilation of these architects works from all continents creates a fascinating summary of the contemporary architectural production. Each individual calendar page, with a clear and straightforward layout, provides all the essential information about that particular architecture project in words, photos, plans and layouts.

Critical Halloween: Luxury

New York, NY ­­-- On Saturday, October 29th from 9 pm to 2 am, Storefront for Art and Architecture will host Critical Halloween: Luxury, at United Palace, formerly one of the original five Loew's Wonder Theatres. Beam Camp, a specialized summer camp for building and collaboration located in Strafford, NH, announces its annual international search to find its 2017 Beam Projects. The large-scale collaborative projects are realized by Beam campers, aged 10-17, and staff at the camp’s 106-acre facility in Strafford, New Hampshire.

Projects are budgeted at $12,500. Winning designers receive a $3,000 honorarium, travel costs, and are invited to visit camp during the project’s production.

Call for Proposals: Opportunity Space

Opportunity Space is an international design-build competition challenging multidisciplinary teams to propose a temporary, mobile structure that will support economic opportunity and social inclusion in Malmö, Sweden.

The winning team will receive a $10,000 prize, a $5,000 travel stipend, and up to $25,000 to cover the costs of implementing their proposal, including costs for materials and insurance.

Call for Submissions: SITE DWELLING

ARKxSITE is pleased to announce the SITE DWELLING international architecture ideas competition for architecture students and young architects.

The SITE DWELLING, located on the cliff of the bay, in the village of Salir do Porto, Portugal, aims to create a secluded destination, a place of retreat to engage with the landscape while providing shelter from the natural elements.  This is a place to stay and inhabit for a few days, offering visitors a unique experience in a very special setting; visitors must leave the space as they found it, empty.

Opportunity Space

Europe’s migration crisis has intensified the need for cities to develop new tools and strategies to help people build skills, earn a living, and establish their place in society. To address this challenge, New York-based design nonprofit Van Alen Institute has launched Opportunity Space, a competition inviting multidisciplinary teams to propose a temporary mobile structure in Malmö, Sweden that will support a wide range of social programs.

The winning team will receive a $10,000 prize, a $5,000 travel budget, and up to $25,000 to implement their proposal in and around Malmö’s Enskifteshagen Park for two months in spring 2017.

Dallas Architecture Forum Begins 20th Anniversary Season with Aga Khan Award for Architecture

The Dallas Architecture Forum will launch its Twentieth Anniversary Season on October 24 with a lecture about the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The winners of this triennial competition (grand prize of $1,000,000 USD) were recently announced and include projects by internationally known firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects and BIG Architects, as well as those by rising talent from countries around the world. Winning projects are located in China, Bangladesh, Iran, Lebanon and Denmark.
