What does a globally active, well-positioned company with a strong US sales partner, a sales office in Hong Kong, and nine subsidiaries have in common with a small town in Poland? A great deal, it turns out: a few years ago, the idea of honouring design and architecture that provides social, ecological, and sustainable benefits to society gave rise to an ambitious competition.
From Monday, September 27, to Friday, October 1, 2021, the Architecture and Person Congress will take place. This event, organized by the School of Architecture at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, aims to reflect on new methods of architectural education and teaching, exploring how architecture can be person-centered rather than focused on spectacle.

At Play: Architecture & Game is an exhibition about play and imagination, built experiences, and mythological narratives. It centers on the idea of "World-Making" and brings together two figures: the architect and the child. Children's games have always been a fertile ground for the invention of "Worlds." Likewise, architects also imagine new "Worlds." These worlds, and the mechanisms of invention upon which they depend, are the essence of the exhibition, which addresses themes as varied as childhood and education, urban planning, public space, history, architecture, art, and invention, with the goal of tracing the history of both imaginary "Worlds" and those that have been imagined.
Models and drawings are essential tools for understanding architecture; they reveal the form and physical expression of buildings. This exhibition brings together a collection of models that, having previously been displayed to represent architectural works, were placed in the care of the Belém Cultural Center. Much like the buildings they represent in miniature, these models have been weathered by time, which has left its mark upon them. Twenty years after their initial presentation, they serve as treasures that reveal more than mere reflections of an era.

BACKGROUND
ACA's 8th International Design Competition 2021 with the theme, ‘MONADIC ARCHITECTURE’, an attempt to investigate design outcomes through reintroducing Monadic / Modular architecture in the contemporary domain as an undeniable answer to meet some the rural and urban building needs. IDC 2021 attempts to inculcate this need of the future and encourage young minds to embrace this method of design evolution. The competition entails the submission of a design proposal that involves the repetition of a single module to create space and form. The building typology can range from housing to schools to budget resorts and office complexes. The proposal must address a solution to a specific problem in their country of origin.

About the Project
Registration is now open for the 2022 admissions process for the undergraduate program in Architecture and Urbanism at Escola da Cidade. Ladakh is a cold desert in India. Lying in the Great Himalayan Region, it has the mighty Karakoram Range in the North and in the south, it is bound by the Zanskar mountains. The area is remote: the main road linking Ladakh with the rest of India is cut off by snow for six months or more each year. It is one of the least populous areas of India and is largely rural in nature. The capital city of Leh is the biggest and only urban center in the greater Ladakh region. This is a high-altitude desert environment where water is precious. Agriculture and human settlements depend on water from snow melt, which flows towards the Indus River.

What are the relationships between ethnography and architecture? What are the scopes and challenges of new technologies and spatial research methods? In what ways can different disciplines meet when faced with the same object of study? What is the role of the senses in the epistemology of the socio-spatial? This is the terrain we occupy.
