This design competition is part of a joint research initiative of the Concordia University Chair of Integrated Design, Ecology, and Sustainability for the Built Environment (IDEAS-BE) and the Canada Research Chair in Architecture, Competitions, Mediations of Excellence (CRC ACME) at Université de Montréal in collaboration with the Conseil reìgional de l’environnement de Montréal (CRE-Montreal) and the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM).

Mango Architecture is happy to announce their second edition of annual Architectural Thesis Award, after a great success in ATA2020 with 350+ registrations from around the globe. The International Thesis Award, launched with the aim of promoting and giving a global platform to showcase the talents of Young Graduates and Post Graduates, acknowledging the projects amongst young and influential industry professionals.

Typhoons and hurricanes, or more generally, tropical cyclones, are all spinning storms of high winds (sustained winds of 73 miles per hour or greater) and intense weather like thunderstorms. The only nominal difference is the ocean basin where they originate. The most alarming factor they all share is that intensity and frequency of these cyclonic superstorms are increasing with climate change.

INTRODUCTION
Sustainable Architecture is a 2021 Architecture Essay Competition, organized by Archiol. Sustainability in architecture is achieved with the use of design strategies in the built environment that reduce the negative environmental impact. Environment that is built based on ecological principles and resource efficiency .The competition, Sustainable Architecture is looking for essay submissions on the topic of sustainability in architecture.

Anthology Festival presents three competitions!

For the past 5 years, Anthology Festival has delved into themes that revolve around current events in the hopes of furthering the practice of Architecture and its involvement in making the city a better place for all. This year, the 6th Anthology Architecture and Design Festival is transformed into a 3-day virtual event that will reach an even wider public with free online accessibility. It is centered around the theme, “Our City”, that shines a light on the continuous transformation of architectural necessities that make our cities. ARCA, a leading group in the stone, tile and wood industry, is welcoming the public to its newly opened design warehouse to view an exhibition by international and local designers and makers “Balance as it Relates to the Environment.” The theme of the exhibition is restorative design, where hand-picked designers were tasked with using 38 recycled marble bricks to create a unique work that promotes an environmental message. The winning piece, selected by the esteemed Deans of University of Miami’s School of Architecture, will be displayed at ARCA Wynwood and open to the public as of February 5th.

Quebec Wood Export Bureau is adding another tool to your arsenal: a free BIM plugin on Revit. With the help of its wood-producing members, the nonprofit group has stepped into the free software world to put a growing suite of structural wood system components at architects’ fingertips.
