Nights of architecture

NIGHTS OF ARCHITECTURE SARAJEVO x BARCELONA
March 4th, 2022.

Barcelona and Sarajevo, are cities connected in many ways. These two Olympic cities (Sarajevo 1984/ Barcelona 1992) became sister cities in 2000, after Barcelona’s significant contribution to the restoration of Sarajevo after the war, on both an institutional level, as well as the reconstruction of the Olympic village Mojmilo, Zetra, Kasatići, and a school in Gora in Vogošća.

In mid-2021, the public was introduced to Barcelona’s candidature to host the 2030 Winter Olympics, with Sarajevo suggested as the co-host for three disciplines: skeleton, bobsleigh and luge, which opened the discussion for potential restoration of the Sarajevo Olympic bobsleigh and luge track. During this historic moment for Sarajevo, the significance of our connection with Barcelona is underlined once again. This connection has once again shown incredible potential for the development of the infrastructure but also for the contemporary architecture of Sarajevo.

This time with us, as guests and lecturers of Nights of architecture Sarajevo x Barcelona, are Relja Ferušić, an architect born in Sarajevo but based in Barcelona where he has founded an awarded architectural office (https://www.salaferusic.com/), and Carles Enrich, an architect who thrilled the audience at the Piran Days of Architecture and the founder of the Carles Enrich Studio in Barcelona (https://carlesenrich.com/).

On March the 4th in Sarajevo Meeting Point cinema, we will have the pleasure to talk to them about their projects, approaches to architecture, urbanism and design, the influence of their education at Escola Tecnica Superior d`Arquitectura de Barcelona and the unbreakable connection between Barcelona and Sarajevo.
