Sheng-Yuan Huang is one of a kind in the architecture world. Indeed, even though he advocates for freedom in the process and shapes of architecture, he contained his work within a county of Taiwan. Here, during a process long 25 years, he has been able to build an urban sequence of public spaces and facilities that spans across more than one kilometer of urban and rural land.
Exhibited at the Taiwan Pavilion at the La Biennale di Venezia 2018 and selected to exhibit in the categories Emerging Communities at the main exhibition of La Biennale do Venezia 2021, his work is relatively unpublished. The book ’The City Beyond Architecture’ written by Alessandro Martinelli and published by Listlab is the first publication that will present the work of Sheng Yuan Huang in extensive form and providing essential information about the context of development side by side with a series of interviews with protagonists of the architecture scene in Taiwan.
