CAC Live: Re-imagining the Skyscraper with Ole Scheeren

International architecture practice Buro Ole Scheeren Group is helping re-imagine the form and function of skyscrapers around the world. Founding principal Ole Scheeren will illuminate the firm’s unique approach to every project.

Scheeren is one of the most accomplished architects practicing today. His work includes such instant landmarks and cultural beacons as MahaNakhon Tower in Bangkok, the Empire City mega-development in Ho Chi Minh City, The Interlace and DUO in Singapore, and the CCTV Headquarters in Beijing, designed while partner-in-charge at OMA. These works and others ingeniously tackle challenges common to living and working in cities: namely, the desire for nature and green space, fresh air and social interconnectedness within our vertical communities. The firm has also distinguished itself in small-scale and cultural projects, from major museums to imaginative outdoor (and sometimes floating) cinema spaces. Scale models of both MahaNakhon and CCTV are currently on display at the CAC, in the Drake Family Skyscraper Gallery.
