As part of ‘Del territorio al Detalle’, a space for academic dialogue and reflection that brings together architecture professors, students, and renowned architects, the spin-off "Del territorio al detalle .re" explores the thesis that a territory's richness stems from its capacity for renewal. Through informal conversations with relevant figures, the series examines how activating disused spaces can transform them into both challenges and resources.
The first guest is Italian architect and academic Marcello Balbo, a professor of Urbanism who has taught at the Iuav University of Venice. There, he directed the school of specialization and postgraduate master's programs. From 2014 to 2019, he served as director of the second-level master's program "U-rise: Urban Regeneration and Social Innovation," with which he continues to collaborate.
Balbo holds the UNESCO Chair in "Social and Spatial Integration of International Migrants: Urban Policies and Practice." Additionally, he served as coordinator of the Iuav research unit for the project "Managing International Urban Migration: Turkey-Italy-Spain (MIUM-TIE)," EU-Promotion of the Society Dialogue between European Union and Turkey (2008–2009), and as director of the Experimental Observatory on International Migration in Latin American Urban Areas (MIUrb/AL) (2006–2008). He was also coordinator of the "Network Association of European Researchers on Urbanization in the South" (2004–2006).
