This year marks the third week of urbanism-related activities hosted by the TransLAB.URB collective. Once again, the event celebrates the transformative power of walking in partnership with the international Jane's Walk community. Taking place from May 3rd to 5th, the event honors the life and work of activist and urbanist Jane Jacobs during the 2nd Jane's Walk Porto Alegre.
The theme, “Walking Teaches Us to Disobey,” is inspired by the ideas of philosopher Frédéric Gros. According to Gros, walking is more than just movement; it is a way to reinvent ourselves, explore new identities and possibilities, and, above all, transcend our social roles. In daily life, everything is tied to a function, a profession, a discourse, or a posture; walking is a way to break free from all of that.
