In a lecture on Wednesday, October 30, architect and urban planner Anthony Ling will present concepts and potential experiences for transforming cities into safer, healthier, and more stimulating places for children. Scheduled for 7:00 PM at the Instituto Ling auditorium, the event will spark discussions on how a city—or even the neighborhood where we grow up—can influence our life path, demonstrating how walking to school or living near a park can contribute to a family's sense of well-being.
As the founder and editor of Caos Planejado, an urbanism content platform, Anthony will demonstrate ways to create more child-friendly cities. He will explore practical ideas for making streets more inviting for children—including in Porto Alegre—by highlighting inspiring examples of places that are already placing children at the center of urban planning. The session will be moderated by Camila Saccomori, a journalist specializing in early childhood, a current Transatlantic Media Fellowship fellow, and an author of reports on child development and urban spaces across the Americas.
The lecture is part of Escola de Pais, a project launched in 2017 with the goal of deeply exploring topics related to child-rearing through conferences featuring professionals from various fields.
