On Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 4:00 PM, artist Panmela Castro will present the premiere performance "Revanche" at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR). In this performance, Castro confronts the impositions of compulsory femininity, inviting the public to witness a reckoning with a four-meter-tall pink bear. The bear is part of the exhibition "Radical Ideas About Love," which remains on view through November 24, 2024. It has been a major attraction of the show, with visitors interacting with it since the exhibition’s opening.
Following the live performance, a video recording will be displayed as part of the exhibition.
In addition to "Revanche," the artist has previously presented "Honra ao Mérito" and "Culto contra os embustes" (2020), with "Ruptura" scheduled for October 12.
