SAAU'20 - UNIESP Architecture and Urbanism Academic Week

The UNIESP Architecture and Urbanism program is hosting SAAU’20, the Architecture and Urbanism Academic Week.

The event will take place from April 13 to 17. This year's theme focuses on the debate surrounding our architecture, titled "From Vernacular to Contemporary – Directions in Latin American Architecture." The primary objective of this event is to deepen the discussion on the decolonization process, bridging the strengthening of vernacular knowledge and technological innovation with the design and production processes within the disciplinary field of architecture and urbanism in the Northeast, Brazil, and Latin America. To further this discussion, four thematic axes will frame the dialogue: technology, culture, sustainability, and society.
Topics will range from the use of new technologies, Northeastern architecture, and cultural affirmation, to the right to quality housing, including discussions on technical assistance and inclusive architecture. The opening session will feature architect and urbanist Gabriela Leandro (Gaia), an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Bahia (FAU/UFBA).
