On September 28 at 4:00 PM, artist Panmela Castro will present the performance “Honra ao Mérito” (Honor to Merit) at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), as part of the exhibition “Ideias radicais sobre o amor” (Radical Ideas About Love), which runs through November 24, 2024.
Free to the public, the performance will take place in the museum’s courtyard and invites audience participation. Previously presented at the 2023 I Bienal das Amazônias, this performance—making its Rio de Janeiro debut—addresses the lack of recognition for women. It proposes a ceremony in which medals are awarded to women from the audience, honoring their talents and noteworthy actions. “It is a historical reparation,” says Panmela Castro.
Following the live performance, a video recording will be displayed as part of the exhibition.
