The workshop invites architecture and urban planning professionals and students to develop, over five days, an architectural project for the physical and conceptual transformation of a "Space" into a "Place." The work is based on three structural elements: the theory of change as a model for controlling the design process, environmental psychology elements for the perception, reading, and transformation of lived space, and Virtual Reality (VR) applied to design development.
The chosen site is located at the Department of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design (DAUD). It is an area that has long been underutilized, unsuitable for use, and largely forgotten. Conversely, it is possible to reorganize the ideas, concepts, and needs that may emerge in this potentially interesting portion of the campus for the development of spaces for gathering, circulation, lingering, and work, (re)establishing boundaries and new forms of engagement with the city and the university itself, thereby assuming a new identity and, perhaps, even becoming a fundamental landmark for the academic community and the city.
