The institution is hosting an exhibition, a talk, an urban expedition, and a collective action designed to encourage the public to reflect on the influence of design in social environments.
From August 29 to September 2, Senac São Paulo will present a series of attractions encouraging the public to reflect on the role of design in society. This participation coincides with Design Weekend 2018, Latin America's largest festival of its kind, which will feature over 300 events across 130 locations in the city. This year, the institution has curated a dynamic program consisting of an urban expedition, an exhibition, a collective action, and a talk. The event's premise is to promote design culture and its connections to architecture, art, interior design, urbanism, social inclusion, business, and technological innovation.
The Conjunto Nacional—located at 2073 Avenida Paulista—will host the exhibition The Dimensions of Things: Wearables, Objects, and People's Spaces, open to the public from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM throughout the festival. Using hula hoops, undergraduate students from the architecture, fashion, and design programs at Centro Universitário Senac have created wearable elements, furniture, and spatial structures that can function as shelters or even pavilions. The exhibition is based on Yona Friedman’s concept of "People’s Architecture."
