The relationship between cities and childhood will be in the spotlight at the end of August at Casa Tegra. On the 30th, starting at 7:30 PM, Tegra Incorporadora’s experience space in the city's south zone will host journalist Bianca Antunes and architect and urban planner Beatriz Martinez for a free talk on how to introduce architecture and urbanism concepts to children through reading and play.
Parents and children are invited to the event, which is part of the launch campaign for the book Vou a Pé (Editora Pistache, R$ 53), a children's book by Antunes in partnership with illustrator Luísa Amoroso. The work depicts the daily life of a young girl named Sossô, capturing her discoveries, emotions, and games on her way from home to school. Amoroso’s illustrations depict the city from a child's perspective, portraying the urban space as a place of fantasy and play, as well as education, inspiration, and memories. The book was selected through the 2022 Proac public call and is supported by the São Paulo State Government, through the Secretariat of Culture, Creative Economy and Industry, and the Urban95 initiative, via the Bernard van Leer Foundation and the Center for Popular Image Creation (Cecip).
The talk at Casa Tegra also marks the launch of the crowdfunding campaign for the interactive board game Trilhas Urbanas, created by Martinez, which invites players to collaboratively solve city problems. Aimed at children aged seven and up, the semi-cooperative project is based on the skills outlined in the National Common Curricular Base. Furthermore, it introduces the UN Sustainable Development Goals in a playful way, applied to everyday life. The game's design and mechanics were winners of the 5th Tomie Ohtake Design Award, which is open to university students and recent graduates.
