Webinar: Architectural Design for 3D-Printed Construction

3D-printed construction is an emerging technology worldwide, offering significant advantages in productivity, sustainability, and versatility. It enables the completion of entire buildings in less time, with reduced resource consumption and waste, while introducing new design and robotic construction processes.

The University of Bío-Bío has established a new prototyping laboratory equipped with large-scale gantries, industrial robots, scale printers, and concrete and biomaterial pumps to introduce this technology to Chile and Latin America, in partnership with various national companies. Architectural design for 3D-printed homes and buildings must incorporate new concepts and processes to leverage these capabilities. This webinar will present general considerations, the equipment available at UBB, and design and programming processes to promote the development of projects using this technology, while also discussing its challenges and possibilities.
