The 2nd edition of Comuns—an experimental and participatory virtual laboratory—aims to stimulate the exchange of new experiences and reflections on the social, ecological, cultural, and political technologies for transforming Latin American territories, considering the current context of urban, social, and geopolitical spatial crisis.
Comuns recognizes the importance of work developed by Latin American firms, actors, and collectives committed to unconventional architectural practices, as well as artists, activists, social movements, and other autonomous initiatives related to the struggle for territory. These proposals follow logics that promote collective and experimental work, anchored in the values of collaborative self-management, the de(s)colonization of discourses and practices, and care for the common good, extending beyond the democratization of access and the effective use of information.
Curated by Marcella Arruda (BR), Marina Frúgoli (BR), and Paula Monroy (EC-CH), and organized in collaboration with the Marieta cultural center (SP-BR), the event will take place twice a week between September 16 and October 9, 2021.
