A Casa is a non-profit initiative that leverages architecture as a tool to bridge ancestral knowledge, academia, and human connection, dedicated to proposing emancipatory and sustainable construction techniques to facilitate access to housing.
Following the 2019 construction of A Casa de Jajja, the initiative is heading to Mexico to build A Casa da Abuela. "Abuela" refers to Maria Luisa Grijalva, a Totonac activist, cultural promoter, and oral and performing storyteller. Her home will serve as a hub for sharing her knowledge of land stewardship within the Escobilla community.
On May 20 at 6:00 PM, we will present the Casa da Abuela project at Galpão Comum, featuring an exhibition in partnership with RUÍNA. A Casa da Abuela is scheduled for construction in Mexico this July and is currently in the final stages of its crowdfunding campaign.
