Dialogues of Light: Light and the Circadian Cycle

The "Dialogues of Light" program presents its third 100% online meeting via our Instagram account @_Ciluz and Dr. María de los Ángeles García’s account @marillo2015, where the central theme will be "Light and the Circadian Cycle." Have you ever heard that sunlight is the most perfect light? Do you know the effect light has on our daily lives?

It is often said that there is no life without light, and it is well known that light regulates our biological clock through cycles of light and darkness, day and night, affecting our entire being (body and mind). The sum of these phenomena is known as the Circadian Cycle. Currently, we are exposed to less sunlight than usual as a result of quarantine lockdowns and social isolation. How does this scenario alter our biological clock, and is it similar to the reduction of light in winter?

We will be able to explore these and many other topics in depth with the help of the distinguished Professor and PhD, María de los Ángeles García-Robles, an academic at the Cell Biology Laboratory (BioCell), Department of Cell Biology, at the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the University of Concepción, Chile.
