MAM Cinematheque reopens to the public

New equipment and accessibility features have been incorporated into the extensively renovated screening room.

The reopening program includes Salomé, the film that won eight awards at the last Brasília Festival. Restored versions of masterpieces such as Jean-Luc Godard’s Contempt (Le Mépris) and Pere Portabella’s Cuadecuc, Vampir will also be screened. Tickets will remain free.

The Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM Rio) announces the reopening of the MAM Cinematheque on March 13, 2025. In partnership with the production company Duas Mariola Filmes, the screening room has undergone an extensive modernization of its technical film exhibition infrastructure. The projection booth was renovated, all electrical wiring was replaced, and the audio and lighting systems were renewed. The space also received new furniture to welcome and guide the public, in addition to the acquisition of essential equipment for accessible screenings.
