NAMA, the Revista Amazônia Moderna, and UFAM are hosting the exhibition L'Amazonie en construction: l'architecture des fleuves volants from July 19 to August 3 at the Maison du Brésil in Paris, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of this iconic Le Corbusier building. This marks the first time the Brazilian Amazon will be exhibited in Europe through the lens of architecture. Admission is free.
Amazônia em construção (Amazon in Construction) is divided into "Fantastic Amazon" and "Concrete Amazon." It presents the spectacular imagery of the landscape and territory alongside the reality of urban life and the challenges of infrastructure and urbanity. The exhibition showcases works recognized for their architectural quality and their potential contribution to the "Flying Rivers" phenomenon. The "breath of the Amazonian trees" releases a massive amount of water vapor into the atmosphere, carrying rain clouds to regions far from the Amazon.
The Max Planck Institute, in partnership with INPA, is developing the binational ATTO project in the Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserve. The 325-meter-tall tower, located 150 km from Manaus, monitors climate change in the Amazon by measuring gas exchange between the forest and the atmosphere. Given the immensity of the Amazon rainforest, how can we ensure quality of life and infrastructure for the approximately 25 million inhabitants in the cities and communities of the Legal Amazon?
